Principal's Message

An Investment in Knowledge Pays the Best Interest
                                                     Benjamin Franklin

Welcome to Benjamin Franklin Charter School and the amazing Crismon Campus! My name is
John Baker and I have the great honor of serving as the principal for this campus. I would like
to welcome all of our new BFCS families. We look forward to building strong and lasting
relationships with you as we partner together to support your children’s learning. To our existing
families, we welcome you back to a new chapter in the lives of your children, one in which we
trust that they will continue to grow in knowledge and citizenship. For this first posting, I thought
it would be fun to get to know your principal!

I was born and raised in San Jose, California, but I have spent the past 21 years in the
Chandler/Gilbert area. I have been married for almost 25 years and have 6 children. I proudly
served this country as a United States Marine, and then served my community as a Phoenix
Police Officer. I just felt there was more I could do by impacting youth at an earlier age. I then
decided to go back to school to get my degree in education. After earning my bachelor’s degree
in education, and with a few years of teaching under my belt, I chose to pursue my master’s
degree in leadership, along with my Principal Certification, from Northern Arizona University. I
have been a part of the BFCS family for a total of 11 years. I spent a few years as an
elementary teacher, teaching both the 5th and 6th grades. I have spent the last four years
teaching math at the high school, serving as the math department head, and helping out with
HS administration. I love being a part of the BFCS family and am excited for the opportunity to
lead the Crimson Campus for many years to come.

As for our Crismon Campus, I have the highest of expectations for myself, the staff, the
students, and the parents. Honest, open communication between staff, home, and school is
absolutely essential in the operation of a successful school. We are committed to teaching the
skills and knowledge needed to find success in school and beyond. We work hard to create a
positive environment that allows every person feel welcome and valued. My desire is that each
student can leave our campus with the confidence to know that hard work, creative thinking, and
a positive attitude can open the doors to a bright future!
I am so looking forward to this school year and working with all of you! Feel free to stop by the
school, introduce yourself, and visit for a few minutes. I look forward to getting to know you and
your wonderful children! Please feel free to call the school anytime! Our friendly office staff is
here to help! Let’s make it a great year!

John Baker
