Fine Arts

The mission of the Benjamin Franklin Fine Arts Department is to cultivate and develop student’s artistic ability and love of the arts. The band, orchestra, choral, dance, theater, and visual arts programs seek to help students find their strengths and to foster all students’ creative and artistic instincts. Covering six curricular programs, the department aims to provide each student a unique opportunity to develop creativity and purpose. Creative involvement in the visual and performing arts gives balance to the classical academic curriculum at Benjamin Franklin High School. The fine arts curriculum challenges students to think creatively, encourages cooperation and collaboration, and enables students to learn about and produce art that is truly beautiful.

“Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens.
If children hear fine music…they develop sensitivity…
they get a beautiful heart.”-Suzuki
